You don’t need a million ingredients or products to achieve the results you want. But when you want to address more than one concern — dullness, dryness, sun damage, or scarring — one serum may not be able to do it all as effectively, or quickly, as a combination strategy.
That's where layering comes in.
Our three targeted serums — Vitamin C Serum, Glow Serum, and Reparative Serum — each have a different job. You can use them individually, layer them together, or rotate them between your morning and evening routines depending on what your skin needs.
This guide will teach you how to use each serum, when to apply it, how to layer them, and a few ways to put them to work beyond your face.
First: Get the Most From Your Serums
Before we get into AM and PM routines, a few simple application tips can help you get more from every drop.
Try red light before your skincare routine
If red light therapy is part of your routine, use it before applying your skincare products. We recommend SaunaSpace's Glow Light as an option.
Then follow with your usual serum routine.
Use Glow Serum with your Gua Sha
Glow Serum isn't just for hydration. Its silky texture makes it a beautiful companion for your Gua Sha stone.
Apply Glow Serum and gently massage with your Gua Sha to encourage lymphatic flow and help de-puff the appearance of the face. Think of it as skincare plus a little facial massage.
Always seal it in
Serum isn't necessarily the final step.
Follow your serums with Frankincense Face Balm to moisturize and help lock everything in. Especially if your skin tends to be dry, stressed, or sensitive, that final layer can make all the difference.
Your Morning Serum Routine
Morning is the perfect time to focus on brightening, protecting, and prepping your skin for the day ahead.
Step 1: Cleanse + Tonic
Start with your usual cleansing and toning routine.
We recommend the Activated Charcoal Face Bar for a deep cleanse that doesn’t strip the skin. We have four Facial Tonics to choose from based on your goal to clear, hydrate, calm, or brighten.
Step 2: Vitamin C Serum
Vitamin C Serum is our morning go-to for dull, tired-looking skin.
Gently apply a few drops to the face and allow it to fully absorb before your next step. Vitamin C is a natural fit for your AM routine when you want to brighten and even your complexion.
Tip: be sure to apply to the neck, and not just the face.
Step 3: Glow Serum
If you're wearing makeup, Glow Serum makes a beautiful hydrating primer layer.
Apply it after Vitamin C and allow it to sink in before moving on to makeup. The result? Skin that feels moisturized and has a healthy-looking glow before you even reach for foundation.
If you're not wearing makeup, you can still use Glow Serum for an extra boost of hydration and radiance.
The AM lineup:
Cleanse → Tonic → Vitamin C Serum → Glow Serum
Your Evening Serum Routine
Nighttime is when you can give your skin a little more focused attention.
Step 1: Cleanse + Tonic
Remove the day, cleanse your skin, and follow with your tonic.
We recommend the Seabuckthorn Oil Cleanser for makeup removal before your usual cleanser and tonic.
Step 2: Reparative Serum
Next up: Reparative Serum.
This is where bakuchiol comes in.
Bakuchiol is often called "nature's retinol" because of the ways it can support the appearance of smoother, more even-looking skin. But you don't have to have "mature" skin to benefit from it.
All skin is technically aging skin.
Though we recommend Reparative Serum to soften fine lines and wrinkles, it also addresses other skin concerns including sensitivity, sun damage, scarring, and hyperpigmentation.
Apply it in the evening and let it go to work overnight. Don’t forget to apply it to your neck as well.
Step 3: Glow Serum (optional)
If your skin is especially dry or stressed, you can layer Glow Serum over Reparative Serum to soothe and hydrate.
Step 4: Frankincense Face Balm
Finish with Frankincense Face Balm to moisturize and seal everything in while you sleep.
The PM lineup:
Cleanse → Tonic → Reparative Serum → Glow Serum (optional) → Frankincense Face Balm
Do You Need All Three Serums?
Not necessarily.
But each serum brings something different to the table, which is why we love having all three available for layering and rotating.
Vitamin C Serum
Think: Brighten
Your morning serum for dull, tired-looking skin and a brighter-looking complexion.
Glow Serum
Think: Hydrate + glow
Your go-to for dry, stressed skin, facial massage, and creating a smooth, hydrated base for makeup.
Reparative Serum
Think: Renew + repair
Your bakuchiol-powered evening serum for supporting more even-looking skin and addressing concerns like sun damage, scarring, hyperpigmentation, and sensitivity.
Together, they give you a more complete approach to your skincare routine — brightening, hydrating, and supporting skin renewal from multiple angles.
Serum Uses Beyond the Face
Here's one of our favorite things about these formulas: you can take them beyond your facial skincare routine.
Glow Serum for your belly
Growing a baby is a beautiful kind of stretching.
Apply Glow Serum to your belly during pregnancy as part of your daily moisturizing routine to help prevent stretch marks as your body changes.
It's one more way to make your skincare a little more intentional during a season when your body is changing by day.
Reparative Serum for scars
Scars aren't exclusive to your face.
Apply Reparative Serum to scars anywhere on the body to support a more even-looking appearance over time.
This can be especially useful for those stubborn spots you don't necessarily think of as part of your "skincare routine."
All serums for the neck and chest
The skin across your neck and chest often shows signs of aging more quickly than the face due to more environmental exposure, yet to forget to extend skincare to this area.
Apply Vitamin C Serum to help brighten the appearance of sun spots and hyperpigmentation, Glow Serum to return a healthy glow to dull skin, and Reparative Serum to firm loose skin, smooth fine lines, and fade age spots.
Your skincare routine shouldn’t end at your chin.
When Should You Expect Results?
Skincare isn't overnight magic — and that's a good thing.
With consistent use, our serums typically produce visible results in 8–12 weeks.
Because natural ingredients work more gradually than traditional retinoids and prescription treatments (without the side effects), giving your routine time to work is important.
So don't use your Reparative Serum for three nights and decide it's not working.
Give your skin time.
And if you're committed to making it part of your routine, start a subscription and save 10%, plus get free shipping on every order.
10% Off Your Serum Routine
If you're looking for corrective power from all angles, you don't have to choose just one.
Layer them. Rotate them. Use them where your skin needs them most.
And if you want all three in your skincare cabinet, our Clean Serum Set bundles the Vitamin C, Glow, and Reparative Serums together for 10% off.
Because your skin has more than one need — and your skincare routine can meet it from more than one angle.
