Men’s Health Is Family Health: Toxins, Testosterone, & More

June is Men’s Health Month.

And while women may be our core audience, families have always been our final customer.

Men's health is couple health. His toxin exposure becomes your exposure, too.

And men's health is family health. His toxin exposure directly impacts fertility and testosterone levels.

For decades, men's personal care has promised confidence, strength, and performance.

Yet many of the ingredients inside those products may be working against the very things men care about most.

Why Men’s Care Should Care More

According to reproductive epidemiologist Shanna Swan of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, sperm counts have dropped approximately 60% since 1973.

And research indicates that testosterone levels have declined by approximately 1% per year since the late 1980s (Spital Clinic, 2026).

In just a few generations, men's reproductive health has experienced a dramatic decline.

No single ingredient or product is solely responsible, but one thing is becoming increasingly clear:

The modern world exposes men to a constant stream of endocrine-disrupting chemicals through products they use every day.

  • Body wash

  • Deodorant

  • Beard care

  • Sunscreen

Products designed to support personal care often contain ingredients that may be undermining long-term health.

Strong men create strong relationships.

Strong relationships create strong families.

Which is why men's care should care enough to remove unnecessary risks. Keep reading to learn these risks and, more importantly, their safer replacements.

Sulfates: The Suds Aren’t Worth the Risk

Most conventional body washes create that thick, satisfying lather using sulfates.

Common examples include:

  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)

  • Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)

These ingredients are used because consumers associate foam with cleanliness. But sulfates can be problematic for several reasons.

They can strip the skin barrier, increase irritation, and Sodium Laureth Sulfate is often contaminated during manufacturing with 1,4-dioxane, a byproduct linked to organ toxicity. Some research has also raised concerns regarding hormone-disrupting effects.

Non-Toxic Body Wash

Try our Men's Body Wash, which has an earthy citrus and fir tree scent. It passes the boyfriend test:

“I began purchasing this a little over a year ago for my boyfriend, and he’s been super happy with it! We were trying to find a natural body wash that had not been tainted with chemicals (he has very sensitive skin due to allergies), and this product did wonders for his skin.”

Tip: Using an organic sponge helps increase lather and decrease the amount of product needed.

Propellants: The Dirty Truth of a Clean Shave

Most shaving creams and gels come in pressurized aerosol cans.

To make that happen, manufacturers use chemical propellants like:

  • Isobutane

  • Propane

  • Butane

These petroleum-derived compounds aren't there to help your skin. They're there to force product out of a can. Yet they remain a common ingredient in men's grooming products.

Aerosol cans simply aren’t necessary when a soap bar can be used. Plus, you get more value when you’re not paying for the can every time.

Non-Toxic Shave Soap

Our Shave Soap is free of what’s harmful, prevents razor burn, and doesn’t make you pay for the bottle. And the natural douglas fir scent is masculine, yet unisex enough to be shared with your partner.

“My husband LOVES this product. He says it's the best shave soap he's ever used. So much so, he gave away the stock pile of the product he currently uses. He says it's so smooth and works extremely well.” – Chelsea

Phthalates: “Mountain Air” Isn’t So Natural

Men's products love words like:

  • Mountain air

  • Fresh pine

  • Sport

  • Ocean breeze

  • Natural musk

They sound natural.

Most aren't.

Phthalates must be listed among the ingredients on product labels, unless they are added as a part of the “fragrance.” Under current law, they can then simply be labeled “fragrance,” even though they may make up 20% or more of the product.

Common phthalates include:

  • DEHP

  • DINP

  • DBP

  • DIDP

  • DnOP

  • BBP

Per the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, phthalate exposure has been linked to adverse health effects, even in unborn and developing children:

  • Early onset of puberty

  • Interfering with the male reproductive tract development

  • Interfering with the natural functioning of the hormone system

  • Causing reproductive and genital defects

  • Lower testosterone levels in adolescent males

  • Lower sperm count in adult males

The irony?

Products marketed to make men feel more masculine often contain ingredients associated with suppressing male hormones.

Non-Toxic Beard Oil

You can get all the same benefits and that classic pine scent, without the phthalates. Our Beard Oil:

  • boosts hair growth

  • hydrates and softens hair

  • nourishes beard and skin underneath

  • guards against dry skin

Triclosan: The Overlooked Toxin

Triclosan is a synthetic, antimicrobial agent that was once in everything.

Because of concerns regarding hormone disruption and bacterial resistance, its use has been heavily restricted in consumer soaps.

Yet it can still be found in some:

  • Deodorants

  • Shaving products

  • Aftershaves

  • Toothpastes

Many consumers assume if an ingredient was removed from one category, it disappeared entirely. Unfortunately, that's not always the case.

Non-Toxic Deodorant

Odor protection should not come at the cost of hormone disruption and compromised immune function. Our Extra-Strength Deodorant has 400+ five-star reviews and stands up to even the heaviest sweat and stink:

“I had given up hope that natural deodorants could ever actually work. But, trust me when I say this stuff is the real deal. I have the B.O. of a sweaty Russian man with the borscht sweats. Try it for yourself and I hope it works for you like it does for me.”
