Beauty Returned

The beauty + wellness industry generates over 120 billion packages per year, and most cannot be traditionally recycled. That's why we teamed up with Pact, a nonprofit collective working to close the loop on hard-to-recycle packaging.

How It Works

Clean Your Empties

Make sure your beauty and skincare empties are clean, unbagged, and free of liquid or product. Collect your empties until you have 5-10 from any beauty brand.

Request a Return Label

Once you’ve reached 5-10 empties, request your return label. You pay $5 for shipping and we'll cover the processing + collection fees. Ship in a box (6x6x3" max) or envelope (8x12" in max).

Get Rewarded

As a thank you, we’ll send you a $20 credit toward your next Toups & Co purchase. Feel good knowing you've helped to responsibly reduce beauty packaging waste.

Pact's Packaging Collection Guidelines

Even when curbside recycled, most hard-to-recycle beauty packaging still ends up in landfills or the ocean. We're changing that with regenerative solutions, sustainable packaging, and our partnership with Pact — because the planet deserves better.

What packaging goes to Pact?

As long as it’s clean and empty, Pact accepts:

  • Plastic, metal and paper containers smaller than a yogurt cup
  • Compacts & palettes
  • Lip gloss/lipstick tubes + applicators
  • Mascara tubes + wands
  • Colored glass bottles & jars
  • Plastic eye/lip/brow pencil components
  • Caps, closures, pumps & dispensers
  • Droppers, supplement bottles smaller than a yogurt cup, and more

Review the Guidelines

What happens to the packaging that Pact collects?

Pact works to find the highest and best use for the material we collect. They prioritize the following from best to least ideal outcome:

  • Upcycled (mechanically recycled into another product of equal or greater value e.g. new packaging)
  • Downcycled (mechanically recycled into another product of lesser value e.g. warehouse pallets, flowerpots)
  • Molecularly recycled (e.g reduced to chemical monomers that can then be used to build something else)
  • Waste-to-concrete or Waste-to-energy (packaging that cannot be used in any other way is burned for electricity).
